So the other day this cat hands me a cd to listen to (no
name on the cd
whatsoever) and then asks me to tell him who it is.
I listen,
Of course it was Robert Smith of The Cure, then another track spins down and it’s not Smith at all but David Bowie, another track flips and surely it is U2, but then again I get the feeling like Snow Patrol but not exactly. Lou Reed? Then Missy fires by and it’s Ray Davies… Yes, I have it.
Then Sometime Around Midnight spins off and It’s the best that Arcade Fire has done to date. So I Settle on Arcade Fire.
But I’m feeling that it all at best may be a trick and think...Warren Zevon, but isn’t he dead?
Fact is, it's a local Los Angeles Band: The Airborne Toxic Event… How come I’ve never heard of them?
You tell me… Arcade Fire or U2 with a bit of Smith, Bowie tied in.

Los Angeles still has it.

Thanks Stephanie. The acoustic version of innocence (linked on this post) is chilling to say the least, and if you look at the quartet, half why through you can see how they are so into it. Of course the cd version of innocence is a bit more electric but just as good.

Hey Beth. Yeah, after purchasing the cd and having more time to listen, they only get better as you can see you hear many influences filtering through in their work..

Nice find Mr V - I've just downloaded several of their songs and I think you could be onto something here. One to watch for sure. Thanks for posting those.
